HDPE Bend
Gamson offers high-performance Injection Moulded 90° Bends, specifically engineered for HDPE piping systems. Unlike fabricated bends which are made from pipe segments, these are manufactured as a single, solid piece through a high-pressure injection moulding process. This results in a seamless fitting with superior structural strength and optimized hydraulic performance, making them the gold standard for high-pressure water, gas, and industrial applications.
Key Features
- Seamless Construction: Being moulded as a single unit, there are no internal or external seams or mitred joints, eliminating potential weak points and providing maximum safety at high pressures.
- High-Pressure Rating: Designed to meet or exceed the pressure ratings of PE100 pipes, commonly available in PN 10 and PN 16 (up to 16 Bar) configurations.
- Optimal Flow Efficiency: The internal bore is precision-molded with a smooth, radius-swept curve, significantly reducing friction loss and turbulence compared to sharp-angled fabricated bends.
- Material Excellence: Produced from virgin PE100 or PE80 resin, providing excellent resistance to UV radiation, environmental stress cracking, and a wide range of chemicals.
- SDR Consistency: Available in standard SDR (Standard Dimension Ratio) ratings like SDR 11 SDR 13.6 and SDR 17, ensuring a perfect wall-thickness match with the connecting pipes for flawless butt fusion.
- Long-Term Durability: Maintenance-free with a design life of over 50 years, even when buried in aggressive soil conditions.

Primary Applications
- Potable Water Mains: The preferred fitting for high-pressure municipal drinking water distribution networks.
- Gas Distribution: Used in MDPE/HDPE gas networks where a seamless, leak-proof joint is a critical safety requirement.
- Industrial Process Piping: Suitable for transporting cooling water, acids, and alkalis in chemical plants and factories.
- Fire Fighting Systems: High-integrity bends for underground fire hydrant loops that must withstand sudden pressure surges.
- Sewage Pressure Mains: Used in "force mains" where wastewater is pumped under pressure.
Installation Guidelines
- Alignment: Use a hydraulic butt-fusion machine to ensure the bend and the pipe are perfectly centered. Because the bend is a short fitting, ensure the machine clamps can securely hold it.
- Face Preparation: Both the pipe end and the bend face must be planed to remove oxidation and ensure a perfectly flat joining surface.
- Heating & Joining: Follow the specific heating time and soak pressure dictated by the pipe's SDR and diameter.
- Cooling: Allow the joint to cool completely under pressure before removing it from the machine clamps to ensure the molecular bond is fully formed.
